Traveling is a bug that has bitten a lot of us and we are filled with endless need to explore. It’s crazy how you meet a couple of your friends, decide out of the blue to pack up and leave or even to make a solo trip! But then it’s time for you to pack! Whether you are leaving the very next day or you have a weeks time, packing can be inevitable and not to mention laborious. Investing some time to plan first and then start packing is both safer and less work. Check out my Travel Bucket List - India and Top 10 Activities To Do While Traveling across India! for some travel ideas :)
Here is where to start in the packing process:
1. Create a checklist:
This could be on your phone or a peace of paper. Identify the basic things that you will need. Try creating major groups and divide it further.
2. Identify major categories:
Here are the major categories of packing:
a) Daily use:
These are contents that you will carry around with you even after you leave the room. The basic necessities at all times. This includes your wallet, scarf, power-bank, ID card, Credit cards, sanitizer, moisturizer etc., you get the idea.
Carry anything that you feel you will need at all times. If you're a man who is shy to carry a sling bag, carry a small backpack.
b) Medicines:
Just a few, in case you fall sick, catch a cold or have diarrhea! Don't forget to carry your regular medication if you have any as well.
c) Toiletries:
Toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoos, body wash among other things. Try to carry them in a plastic bag. This way even if you shove your wet brush and shampoo into it, it doesn't spread to the other things in your bag.
*pro tip: Ladies, carry a razor if you don't find time to wax. You never know when the need will arise.
d)Makeup/personal care:
Always carry a moisturizer, lip balm and hair care products apart from your regular cosmetics. It'll go a long way. Trust me.
e) accessories( if required):
It could be for a wedding or a beach party or just your sun glasses. Just remember to pack them.
d) Clothes| Inner-wear
Need I say more? Try your best to over pack. Just pack one extra pair in case of emergency. Pack based on the weather and the place you are going. Again! DON'T OVER-PACK.
3. Create a list of items you have to buy/borrow using the checklist and tart packing. Cross check with the first checklist as and when you pack until strikes out everything.
Hope this helps you have an organized swift pack!
